Urgent prayer needs: Congress registrant visa and funding challenges

Dear praying friends,

We thank God for two good days of planning Dr. Richard had with the GProCongress program team earlier this week. Please pray that they can move quickly on action items, for positive results, and for the Holy Spirit’s total direction of the program.

Some requests we’ve brought to you before are now critical: visa procurement and participant travel funding. Despite the Congress team’s great diligence and the hospitality of the Thai government, GProCongress registrants in some countries are still encountering obstacles when applying for visas. One pastoral trainer writes:

We are facing difficulties in obtaining the visa. We sent an email to the embassy but we did not receive any response, we then followed up with a call but no one picked up.

We traveled to the embassy city on Tuesday to present all our authorized documents and were asked to come for the visa the following day till today. We were only informed today that we cannot receive our visa unless the embassy receives more information.

Our flight home was this evening but we have to reschedule our flight for Monday. Most of the participants from other West Africa countries are getting frustrated with the hindrance here because of the cost of hotel, feeding and transportation just to get a visa.

We are pleading with you to help in facilitating the visa process.

Some other registrants are regretfully cancelling their attendance because they have not been able to get funds to travel to Bangkok. Please intercede for God’s provision and protection in the face of these visa and funding challenges, and pray that many will see Him at work and glorify Him.

Visa praises and needs, program planning details

Dear praying friends,

News from the GProCongress frontline: “Just heard that 30 pastors just received visas in Kenya, with more to come. Twenty-two pastors from Benin received visas in Senegal, even though they were to go to Nigeria! Wonderful miracles are happening, praise God together.” However, we’re also hearing from pastoral trainers in countries where visas are being denied.

Your prayers are vital, please keep on. Many pastoral trainers long to attend the GProCongress yet face visa, financial, health, transportation and other challenges. Pray that the Lord will provide and protect in such a way that their faith will be strengthened and His name lifted up among any non-believing family members, friends, acquaintances—even in their nation. Additional needs in the area of Congress recruitment include participation from countries not yet represented and strong delegations from strategic countries, including a good response to an initiative in honor of the late Rev. Enoch Sirikul.

Dr. Richard and the Congress program team plan to meet next week. Ask God to give them wisdom and creativity in planning, and attention to detail, encouragement and patience in plan implementation. Dr. Richard requests special prayer for three main program elements—the opening and closing events and the mid-Congress Communion service. Also lift up the panel discussion addressing how to connect and enhance the worlds of formal and non-formal pastoral training. The Lord willing, Dr. Richard is to participate in this panel.

Thank you for praying.

Four days/357 days to go

Dear praying friends,

There are just four days until the 2015 Dallas GPA graduation and 357 days until the GProCongress. Please pray that Dr. Richard, the RREACH staff and the GProCongress team will steward every moment with wisdom, intentionality, ingenuity and Christlike character, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Specific Dallas GPA needs:

  • Energy and endurance for the 26 GPA pastors (and the RREACH/GPA staff) to finish this concentrated three weeks well
  • Giving to cover the final 7 percent of funds needed for the GPA
  • All details of the graduation banquet to be executed with excellence
  • Dr. Richard’s preparation for the graduation event – the charge and other comments

Specific GProCongress needs:

  • A dynamic “Year of the Congress” launch this Saturday, June 27
  • Development of a dynamic program and availability of the right speakers/session leaders
  • Funding to meet sizeable cash flow requirements over the new few months
  • The Congress vision to continue to spread among strategic mobilizers and pastoral trainers

Thank you for praying!

From Alpha to Zanzibar, GProCongress momentum rolls on

Dear praying friends,

God blessed Dr. Richard’s quick trip to the Alpha Leadership Conference 2015 in London for GProCongress mobilization with a number of strategic connections, while word continues to spread in remote areas, too. A professor from Kenya shared information about the Congress with about 60 extension trainers in Zanzibar. “The response was so encouraging,” he reported. “Twenty-five of them left me details for registration. The Zanzibar bishop is also excited about coming. Zanzibar has less than 100 churches with no Bible school for pastors. This might be the time to inspire them to train pastors.”

Concentrated prayer for the GProCongress remains a top priority. Please intercede for:

  • The GProCongress team – creativity, capacity, Christlikeness and coordination of schedules
  • Program development and a program manager
  • Funding to meet increased cash flow needs

GPA Benin has finished, while delegates are preparing for GPA Cambodia to convene May 14. Thank God for these servants and organizers and pray for their connecting, uniting and strengthening. Dallas GPA candidates continue to have trouble obtaining visas. Pastors CD, J and P from Asia, Latin America and Africa have upcoming visa appointments. Please earnestly pray for favor. Thank you!

Momentum swells toward GProCongress, 2015 Dallas GPA and national GPAs

Dear praying friends,

You prayed for Dr. Richard’s quick recovery from his packed two-week, four-stop trip in Southeast Asia. Upon arriving back in Dallas, he promptly began outrunning the RREACH staff. Thank you, and please continue to call on The Inexhaustible One:

  • As the GProCongess program is becoming more defined, Dr. Richard needs someone to come alongside him in crucial implementation.
  • A strong wave of funding is needed over the next few months for Congress preparation. God has provided many wonderful donors; please ask for that provision to flourish.
  • GPA Indonesia, to start in less than two weeks and GPA Peru is set to open April 16. Both need prayer for finding the right 25 delegates.
  • The visa process for the 2015 Dallas GPA is still proving unusually difficult, but the Lord has now supplied 20 candidates with visas. Praise Him! And intercede for the seven more who must apply or reapply.
  • Wisdom and capacity are needed as Dr. Richard evaluates his multiplying responsibilities and opportunities.

It has been nearly one year since Dr. Richard’s dear mother, Manorama, graduated to heaven. On Thursday, April 9, which would have been her 91st birthday, Dr. Richard was able to spend some time in reflection and thanks to the Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for your kind support on this journey. It has blessed the family deeply.

Dr. Richard returns from Asia; GPA Peru and GPA Indonesia coming soon

Dear praying friends,

Greetings in the name of our resurrected Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We rejoice with you that because He lives, all who trust Him may live. Dr. Richard has just completed a two-week trip to Southeast Asia, where he had several engagements to proclaim that Good News. Some items to remember for prayer as he returns include:

  • Rapid recovery from the stress of travel
  • Clarity regarding the many opportunities that come his way
  • Preparation for upcoming talks, articles and other ministry engagements
  • Continued GProCongress program and partnership development

GPA Peru is scheduled for April 16 – 25 and GPA Indonesia for April 23 – May 2. Please pray for the organizers and those planning to attend, as well as their families and ministries.

Also specifically lift up those preparing for the 2015 Dallas GPA—the RREACH team, the pastors (especially with regard to visas and airfare), the Master Coaches, the host families, and many others who serve in different ways.
