2018 Dallas GPA – Week 1

Dear praying friends,

In brief:

  • Praise God that all 26 pastors arrived and had a great start to GPA 2018!
  • Praise that Dr. Richard’s voice held up during his first day of teaching. Intercede that the pastors will quickly grasp all the teaching and see how to apply it.
  • Pray for the onsite GPA team to operate effectively, efficiently and with excellence.
  • Continue to ask God to provide Dr. Richard opportunities to proclaim the Lord Jesus evangelistically.

The bigger picture:Dallas GPA classroomWe praise the Lord for the trouble-free arrival of all 26 Dallas Global Proclamation Academy delegates for 2018. Please pray that they will enjoy getting to know each other. Pray that the Lord will place them with just the right host families this weekend and next.

Thank God that Dr. Richard made it through his first day of teaching. His voice is still weakened, though, and he would appreciate continued prayer as he is scheduled to teach extra days this year. Please intercede for each pastor to learn well and discern how to effectively apply what they are learning.

Uphold the GPA team onsite at Dallas Seminary and pray that they will operate effectively, efficiently and with excellence, by the power of God’s Spirit. Pray for them to be encouraged even in the middle of pressure.

We’ve seen answers to prayer as Dr. Richard’s schedule fills with speaking engagements. Praise God and pray for other opportunities to expose opinion leaders—the largely overlooked group of people with influence and affluence—to the Lord Jesus in thoughtful and winsome ways.

Thank you!

Some answers to prayer!

Dear praying friends,

In brief:

  • Answer to prayer: Dr. Richard just completed two undisturbed, productive days of writing!
  • Keep praying for the possibility of a pre-evangelistic event with opinion leaders, people of influence and affluence, in Paraguay and other places.
  • Praise God for GProLearning.org’s growth to 7,142 curated pastoral training resources in more than 30 languages.
  • The Dallas GPA is nearly here; pray for 25 pastors and Holy Spirit-empowered preparation. Also pray for a national GPA in a dangerous region starting June 1.

The bigger picture:

Thank you for praying: Dr. Richard was able to dedicate a few days to writing this week and progressed well on a project. Please ask for his continued creativity and productivity.

Another answer to prayer! A RREACH colleague and local pastor met with a government official in Paraguay interested in organizing a pre-evangelistic event. Thank God for their efforts. Pray for Him to open the door there for Dr. Richard to talk with opinion leaders about life issues. Pray for more such opportunities in other locations, as well.

The resource arm of the GProCommission, GProLearning.org, now features 7,142 pastoral training resources in more than 30 languages curated from around the world. Praise God for the team’s diligence. Please ask Him for good collaboration, creativity and excellent implementation as they continue to introduce the GProCommission and its components to pastoral trainers and leaders globally.

With less than three weeks to go, we are praying for the right 25 pastors to attend the Dallas GPA, held on the Dallas Seminary campus. The count is now 23! Several pastors have upcoming visa appointments. Pray for everyone involved—pastors, RREACH team, Dallas Seminary colleagues, Master Coaches and more—to be led and empowered by the Holy Spirit in their preparation. Please also lift up a national GPA starting June 1 in a region dangerous for believers.

Thank you!

Encouraging the hope-less and the faith-full in Haiti

Dear Friends,

Please join with us in prayer today and over the weekend as Dr. Richard and a few RREACH staff and friends travel to Haiti to minister there.

Dr. Richard and RREACH have a deep history in this country that is impoverished materially but blessed with giants of the Faith.

Dr. Richard has made several trips there to train and encourage pastors, including in 2010, just a month after the devastating earthquake that claimed the lives of 300,000 people. He and the RREACH team traveling with him, including Dr. Richard’s wife, Bonnie, went to provide a day of refreshment for Haitian pastors dealing with their own losses of loved ones and physical property while also trying to minister to their hurting congregations.

2010 Haiti Trip

Dr. Richard said this of his decision to go then.

Bonnie and I were there … because the pastors had stopped smiling and singing.

During this weekend’s trip, please pray for the following opportunities to proclaim Christ:

Saturday: In the morning, Dr. Richard will deliver the keynote address for the Theological Education Program commencement ceremony. Pray that those attending the commencement ceremony would be transformed and encouraged by Dr. Richard’s message.

That evening he will speak to “hope-less” opinion leaders at an evangelistic dinner. The office of Haitian president Michel Martelly called to inform RREACH’s Haitian hosts of Martelly’s sudden need to go to the funeral of Nelson Mandela, which will cause him to be unable to attend the evangelistic event Saturday evening. Please pray that many opinion leaders would attend, and that many would find hope and place their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sunday: Dr. Richard will teach from the pulpit during two services at Eglise Baptiste Berée, the church of long-time RREACH friend Pastor E, a Dallas Seminary graduate. That evening Dr. Richard will have a special visit with GPA graduates in the area, who have multiplied their training to the third generation. Dallas GPA graduates from Haiti in 2011 put on GPA Haiti. GPA Haiti graduates, in turn, were inspired to organize intentional pastoral training for 100 specially selected pastors from all 10 regions of Haiti. Please pray that God would use Dr. Richard’s preaching at Eglise Baptiste Berée to impact those attending and that the special visit would be of mutual encouragement and refreshment for GPA graduates and for Dr. Richard.

From Zambia to you: A greeting from Ramesh Richard

Dear friends,

Dr. Richard is currently ministering in Africa, and sent this video greeting this morning (Monday afternoon Zambia time). We are so excited to share it with you.

Please also rejoice with us over some praises from Dr. Richard’s trip across four countries in Africa, and please join us in prayer for the remainder of his time abroad.

Praises

  • Dr. Richard had the humbling privilege of personally leading a Zambian ambassador (who some in Zambia have referred to as a possible “kingmaker”) to trust in Christ. Dr Richard reported, “I sent him away rejoicing!”
  • Praise God for an evangelistic event where 50 attended and at least two responded to the Gospel message.
  • Praise God for a dinner Dr. Richard attended at the home of the head of southern Africa’s wing of a global beverage corporation. The man, Hindu by faith, came to the evangelistic event Sunday night and heard Dr. Richard speak on Unmasked: Facing the Mystery of Evil. While the man seemingly only wanted to prove his religiosity during his dinner with Dr. Richard, his chauffeur was eternally rescued! Please continue to pray for the man, that what he has been told about the Lord Jesus would weigh heavily upon his heart until he has no response but to submit his life!

Prayer requests

  • Please pray for wisdom and articulation as Dr. Richard has received a sudden invitation to speak on national television in Zambia on Tuesday. Pray that God would speak through him and that many would be brought closer to faith in the Lord Jesus after hearing Dr. Richard.
  • Also pray for Dr. Richard as he conducts a national Christian radio interview, which will be aired on Thursday, the Zambian Independence Day and the 100th anniversary of the city of Lusaka. Pray that his words would encourage, uplift and motivate Zambian Christians and that the airing of it on such an important holiday would carry God’s message far and wide.
  • Finally, pray for the potential opportunity for Dr. Richard to meet with the President of Zambia, who has said he will meet with Dr. Richard if he (the President) is back in Lusaka by 1 p.m. (6 a.m. Dallas time) Tuesday. Pray that the President does make it back to the city and that the Lord would use their meeting to bring glory to Himself.

For His glory,
