Praise, productivity, peace

Dear praying friends,

In brief:

  • Praise for one more pastor who has obtained a visa to join us for the Dallas GPA!
  • Praise for a good first semester back in the DTS classroom for Dr. Richard; pray for summer productivity.
  • Pray for GPA Paraguay pastors as they finish and return home and for other GProCommission pastoral training efforts in Latin America.
  • Pray for many to hear about the Lord Jesus in a new way through LifeRocks.

Another praise: Our newly updated LifeRocks media outreach site has gone live with Dr. Richard’s newest talk on peace. Intercede for many, especially in otherwise unreachable areas, to see these talks and receive the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A 22nd pastor has obtained his visa to attend the 2018 Dallas GPA! Six more are in the visa process. Praise God for His provision in so many ways—available and quality candidates, seven new countries represented, visa approvals, generosity in funding, Master Coach availability, good behind-the-scenes teamwork, and more. Keep praying for the right 25 delegates, their and our preparation (including funding), and those dealing with deep disappointment at not being able to come.

Dr. Richard has completed his first semester back in the DTS classroom after several years in a revised role. Praise God for a good semester and pray for him to find times for focused writing this summer. Pray, too, for his son Ryan and Ryan’s fianceé, Chelsie, as they prepare to marry in a few weeks.

Despite some initial challenges, GPA Paraguay began last week and is set to conclude this week. Pray for God’s protection of and provision for all national GPA organizers and potential delegates. They often face major obstacles. We’re also asking the Lord for fruitful GProCommission pastoral training connections all across Latin America.

Virtually praying together

Dear praying friends,

In brief:

  • Praise God for a worldwide RREACH staff and team virtual prayer meeting.
  • Pray for Dr. Richard as he considers how RREACH might look in the future.
  • Answered prayer: 21 pastors have obtained visas to come to Dallas in June!
  • Continue to lift up preparations for a LifeRocks media outreach relaunch in May.
  • The GProCommission team requests prayer as they develop an assessment tool.

The RREACH Dallas staff and external team members, from nine different countries and nine time zones, enjoyed a two-hour virtual prayer gathering last week. Praise God for the unifying power of the Holy Spirit and the technology that makes this possible!

As Dr. Richard prepares for upcoming board meetings, he is considering organizational “balancing”—how RREACH might function in the future. Please be in prayer for him. Also continue to pray for a block of time in May he can dedicate to writing.

We now have 21 pastors cleared to travel to Dallas for the GPA in June. Thank you for praying! Please pray for their ongoing spiritual and practical preparation, and for four more to join this group. On the national GPA front, GPA Paraguay is beginning. Pray for a good group, God’s hand on them, and a possible coordinating pre-evangelistic event.

Intercede for the final stages of production on the LifeRocks website and video, especially diligence and patience with details and technologies to function properly. Ask God to use this to draw many to the Lord Jesus.

Finally, please pray for wisdom and discernment as the GProCommission team develops a tool to help GProLearning.org users assess their skills and theological capacity. Thank you!

A new LifeRocks launch and more

Dear Praying Friends,

In brief:

  • An update to the LifeRocks website is coming soon!
  • Angola and Paraguay are hosting national GPAs this month; the Dallas GPA pastors-with-visas count is up to 18.
  • RREACH has set a US$1 million goal to expand our care for pastors’ families in need.
  • Ramesh is looking for time to write in May.

GPA Angola - praying in the mountains

GPA Angola: “Wonderful prayer time in the mountains!”

Please pray for the launch of a new LifeRocks website and video. We want the new design, video and weekly blog to draw more pre-Christians to think differently about the Lord Jesus Christ and consider Him as their Lord and Savior. Please ask the Lord for the technology to work correctly, wisdom in advertising to many people, and the Good News presented by Dr. Richard to transform many.

Thank you for praying: Despite continual rains, 28 pastors made it to GPA Angola! They graduate this week. GPA Paraguay begins next week, the Lord willing. Pray for the right 25 pastors to attend and for God’s hand to be on the organizers. The Dallas GPA count has grown to 18 pastors who have visas. Remember Pastor J from Botswana, Pastor E from Sierra Leone, and Pastor J from the Philippines as they go to appointments next week. Pastor F from Lithuania was asked to go back next week, as well.

First as a child and then as a pastor himself, Ramesh Richard experienced firsthand the sacrifices pastors and their families make. He established The ENLARGE Fund in honor of his late parents, wishing to raise US$1 million over the next year to help pastors’ families, widows and orphans in situations of specific need. Please pray for this effort to be fruitful and for discernment in responding to needs.

Dr. Richard hopes to set aside time for writing in May. Please ask God to provide the right time, place and productivity. Also remember the Richard family as they prepare for Ryan’s marriage to Chelsie Birks in late May.

Thank you!

Visits, visas and vision-casting

Dear praying friends,

In brief:

  • The Lord Jesus blessed Dr. Richard’s trip with deep connections and re-connections.
  • LifeRocks is getting an update to better engage pre-Christians.
  • We’re celebrating the completion of GPA Zambia and a 14th Dallas GPA candidate visa approved!
  • The GProCommission is developing connections across Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

The bigger picture:

Dr. Richard is en route back to the U.S. after a swift, five-city trip through Singapore, India, Hong Kong and the Philippines. He visited long-time friends, made new friends, cast vision, spoke several times and participated in two memorial services for his dad. He reports that his heart and mind are beginning to adjust after the initial period of grieving. God is using your prayers and expressions of love to help the whole Richard family heal.

RREACH is migrating and updating LifeRocks, our Media Outreach website. Please pray for technological mercies! Also pray for the production and release of the newest LifeRocks video next month. Continue to intercede for more pre-Christians to think more clearly about the Lord Jesus Christ as they view and read our materials.

The fourth national GPA of 2018 is in session. Please ask God to watch over GPA El Salvador attendees and organizers and their families and ministries back home. Praise Him for the 28 young pastors who completed GPA Zambia (2) last week and ask His blessing on their ongoing ministry.

Also thank the Lord for a 14th Dallas GPA candidate who has received a visa. Sadly, another brother who applied this week was rejected. We are waiting to hear results from three others and praying for upcoming appointments for Pastors K from Togo (second attempt), K from Lesotho, and T from Myanmar.

On the GProCommission front, our colleague in Latin America is pursuing partnerships for Spanish pastoral training resources and a mentoring program. Our colleague in the Middle East plans to speak and cast vision at an upcoming conference. Our colleague in Europe is developing alliances with organizations in French-speaking Africa. Please pray for these and for ongoing provision and protection of colleagues and pastoral trainers in all areas.

Thank you!

In his words: Ramesh Richard August update

Dear praying friends,

“For the first time since 2012 I felt I had a day off,” I told Bonnie early last month. I have had days off, for sure, but the fact that I was not pushing or driving towards any big, future thing was what made me feel this way. I think it was also the point of resuscitation in this five-year voyage. I get to serve Christ at His pleasure in full strength again.

On July 1, Dallas Seminary welcomed me back into full-time faculty duties. What an amazing connection with my alma mater, whose leadership has not only accommodated our original understanding of 30 years ago, but gone beyond it to institutionally and personally support what I can bring to the school in global theological engagement and pastoral ministries. It was intriguing that I hosted a global phone conference of formal and non-formal theological education on the very day of my return to DTS.

I dedicated last month to what we called iA.S.K.—explained in my devotional in our third-quarter RR Crossing magazine. Please enjoy it for your spiritual health. Taking the acronym from Matthew 7:7, I am3Q17 front

  1. Asking for God’s good gifts, especially the Holy Spirit’s empowerment as His best good gift to us;
  2. Seeking first His kingdom—His purposes, priorities and plans for this ministry—while conduct myself righteously; and
  3. Knocking at His door for opportunities big and small, deep and wide, far and near, long and short, even heavy and light. Because much has been given to me, much is required from me.

I also penned First Basic: Confession & Conviction for Missio Nexus, an organization attempting to return the North American missions community to the basics of evangelism, discipleship and church planting at its 100th anniversary year.

2017’s Media Outreach theme media is Peace. I recorded six more short videos for LifeRocks. If you don’t get our bi-monthly videos, weekly thoughts and daily postings, please let us know.

While on a weekend trip to New York to be with my dad and sister, I ended up preaching at a vibrant, international church; I also spoke in Dallas at a South Asian congregation. Both were delightful. I felt like I was in healthy churches with active congregational participation in testimonies, songs, prayer and sharing, all before communion, offering and the message.

These are decisive days for RREACH, moving from waiting (January to June) to asking (July), to prioritizing (in August), to implementing (September to December and beyond)! Every time someone sends a gift or says they pray regularly for me explains so much of what God continues to condescend to do through us, His servants, you and me together. Thank you.

Warmly,

RR
