In his words: Ramesh Richard update

Dear praying friends,

We’ve just finished a month of birthdays. Bonnie and I are aging at the same pace…even as you are! We are grateful to exchange weariness, weakness and any worry for His strength as we actively wait for the Lord to lead us into the future.

As you can guess I have been in Isaiah 40:31—the verse picked by India’s national and historic missions agency Friends Missionary Prayer Band to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Over 1,000 Indian missionaries were present, and my preparation on “the loftiest chapter in the Old Testament” refreshed me even as the talk rejuvenated others. “God is God. He is not applying for the job.”

Just before that I had spoken in Thailand to 1,000 leaders, with a large contingent from another strategic nation. Forty hours there and forty hours in India made for demanding travel, but gave me the opportunity to advance Christ’s cause through committed leaders representing two of the world’s largest countries. My sentiment after concluding this heavy and rich time was simply: “No servant of Jesus should be given so much opportunity in the space of one week!” Thank you, Lord Jesus. What an honor!

I also spoke at private evangelistic dinner at the fine Shangri-La Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Sixty of the 100 attendees were pre-Christian, all of them noted that they wanted to know more, and eight of them responded to the invitation to trust the Lord Jesus as their Heart-God.

The World Evangelical Alliance met in Kona, Hawaii, where I shared some of my leadership learnings with top-tier missions and organizational leaders. Except I had contracted an antibiotic-resistant acute bacterial infection that still lingers, four weeks later. Please pray for me.

We are well into the 2017 Dallas GPA. While we faced major visa problems, God provided more pastors than we planned for! If you wish to serve as a host family for a pastor for the weekend of June 10-11, please let my colleague Mary know at mary@rreach.org.

We’d love for you to be our dinner guest for the graduation on June 24, to rejoice at the fruit of your investments with us. Kindly RSVP here: rreach.org/GPAbanquet.

Thank you for your prayers. I am counting on them.

First day of class

Dallas Global Proclamation Academy 2017: First day of class

“This is what God has made me to do”

Dear praying friends,

Great news from Dr. Ramesh Richard in Thailand: “The Lord just gave us a great harvest at a private gathering of about 100 opinion leaders, with 60% being pre-Christian, and all of them want to know about Jesus. Eight or more of them received Jesus today. Follow-up has begun! This is what God has made me to do—Proclaim His Word and multiply Proclaimers of His Word to deliver spiritual health to large numbers of individuals worldwide.”

Dr. Richard also spoke to a gathering of 1,000 Christian leaders about the tremendous need for pastoral training, and this weekend he is to speak to a large group of missionaries in Southeast Asia. Next week he flies back, the Lord willing, in time for the start of the 2017 Dallas GPA. Please ask the Lord to continue to speak through and sustain this “Vagabondslave.”

We’re also praising God for granting 29 pastors the visas they need to attend the Dallas GPA, which begins June 4! Pray for final preparations—on our side to welcome them and on their side to come to the U.S. Pray for smooth and safe travels, protection of loved ones, and a powerful three weeks of connecting, uniting and strengthening.

Please also remember the GProCommission team in their massive post-GProCongress effort to connect and nurture pastoral trainers and pastoral training.

Powerful, joyful and useful start to 2016

Dear praying friends,

New Year’s greetings to you! Dr. Ramesh Richard had a powerful, joyful and useful start to 2016 with over 900 Indian missionaries characterized by Vision, Faith and Sacrifice. They were gathered for the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Indian Evangelical Mission in Hyderabad, India. He especially rejoiced in this opportunity because his 92-year-old dad, John Richard, was part of the founding team of this “indigenous” mission organization 50 years ago.

Three, quick GProCongress vision-casting sessions in three mega-cities over three days topped off the end-and-beginning-of-the-year trip to his birthland. Thank you for praying as he traveled and ministered to rather key audiences, and even large crowds.

Dr. Richard also deeply appreciates your prayer for the GProCongress. God is granting great progress toward this global and historic event for the Faith, and yet opposition is very real and from many directions. We ask your fervent prayer for His total protection over the entire project, and over the following areas in specific:

  • GProCongress team members and their families
  • Up to 5,000 of the right pastoral trainers registering—early registration ends January 15th
  • Pastoral trainers in difficult areas raising travel and registration funds
  • Compelling program with the right 185 speakers/presenters
  • Continued generous giving to meet GProCongress needs
  • Development and implementation of a robust Congress follow-up team and action plan

Another answer to praise

Dear praying friends,

A couple of weeks ago we asked you to pray that Dr. Richard, who was stuck in South Carolina, would make it back to Dallas in time to catch his flight to Indonesia. We also asked you to praise God for what He would do, including possibly giving Dr. Richard the opportunity to introduce someone to the Lord Jesus Christ. To see that post click here.

This is how God answered. Dr. Richard did get back to Dallas in time for his Indonesia flight. On the first leg, he sat next to a businessman. The two conversed about life and business, and it came out that the man was headed to India to see his dying mother. Dr. Richard asked for permission to pray together in the Name of Jesus—”the only name I have to pray with,” he says. The man assented. When they parted ways he waited at Ramesh’s gate to say goodbye. Dr. Richard was also able to connect him with a believer at his destination in India. “So God was working there, too,” Dr. Richard says. Not only did he make that flight, his seatmate, planning to fly through Chicago, was rescheduled through Dallas. “When I boarded the plane, the seat next to me was empty. Finding him there shows that God wanted me in his life.”

The Lord willing, Dr. Richard is scheduled to travel back to Dallas from Turkey this week, fly to Orlando for a brief but highly strategic meeting regarding GProCongress mobilization, and finish the week participating in Camino Global’s 125th anniversary celebrations. Thank you for praising God with us, intercessors. Please continue to ask, seek and knock, with thanksgiving, for His total protection and global provision.

Good news in and from India, strategic GProCongress efforts

Dear praying friends,

When Dr. Richard was in Aurangabad, India, a couple of weeks ago, he spoke to 120 business-professionals in that city of 1.2 million people. Up to 60 percent of the audience heard God’s good news for the very first time. The gathering was organized by Dallas GPA 2013 grad Pastor A., in whose church Dr. Richard also spoke. It is a thriving group of 60 people, 90 percent of whom are first-generation converts to the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for God’s Word to continue to bear fruit and that believers will stand strong for the Lord Jesus Christ during times of challenges and in areas of threats.

Continue to remember:

  • the GProCongress meetings this week
  • strategic Congress positions to be filled
  • selection of 25 fine, young pastoral leaders for the 2015 Dallas GPA, at least five from new countries.

Thank you!

Eager opinion leaders, strategic day of prayer and GPA Cuba

Dear praying friends,

Thank you for praying Dr. Richard through his first 2015 ministry trip. He has served in four different cities across India in 10 days. The Lord willing, he will return to Dallas later this week. Please pray that the Word Dr. Richard has proclaimed will continue to transform those who have heard. Some attendees of the recent pre-evangelistic event for business leaders in Aurangabad, India, were so interested in his talk on “Successful Success” that they wanted to meet with him right away!

Other items to bring before the Lord include a strategic prayer day with the RREACH staff next week and an opportunity to cast vision for the GProCongress at a gathering of leaders in the Pacific Northwest next weekend. Finally, praise God that GPA Cuba is set to begin tomorrow. Please pray for:

  • protection and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit for the organizers and master coaches
  • a deeply meaningful and life-changing experience for the delegates, and
  • the effects to spread across that oppressed land for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you!

A sleepless but splendid start to 2015

Dear praying friends,

“I am worn out after a rich and meaningful start to the New Year, just like I would want it—my equivalent of a ministry-Times Square ball-drop!” So wrote Dr. Richard after he spoke at a Watch Night service for 2,000 in Chennai, India. (You can watch a brief video here: http://viewpure.com/YSzXech0cMc.) He has since traveled north to Maharashtra State to meet with pastors, cast vision for the GProCongress, and speak at an evangelistic event for business leaders, all organized by GPA grad Pastor A. Early reports indicate that about 110, 60% nonbelievers, attended the evangelistic event. The Lord willing, on January 5 he’ll be off to another city for a spontaneously-organized evangelistic event.

As you remember Dr. Richard and these ministry opportunities in prayer, please also ask the Lord to give him restorative sleep. He managed to get three hours in the first 30 of this trip. Thank you for praying!
