Balancing needs and realities

Dear praying friends,

In brief:

  • A pre-Christian couple who attended an event with Dr. Richard has requested Bibles from the believing friends who invited them.
  • Ten pastors now have visas to attend the 2018 Dallas GPA! Four more have interviews next week.
  • GPA Zambia starts March 1; GPA Laos March 8.
  • Ramesh Richard is scheduled to speak at the DTS chapel service Friday, March 2.

The bigger picture:

Just a few weeks ago Dr. Richard talked with a group of pre-Christians in a closed country. He got word from the organizers this week that “by God’s Grace we were able to give two Bibles to two of my colleagues, on their request.” Praise be to the Lord! Please keep praying for these and many others newly exposed to the Lord Jesus.

Another praise: Ten pastors are now visa-approved for the Dallas GPA! Of the pastors who had interviews this week, one was approved, one denied, and one we have not yet heard from. Four more visa interviews are scheduled next week: Pastor M – Senegal, Pastor N – Pakistan, Pastor S – Tanzania, and Pastor J – Bolivia.

GPA Zambia (2) starts Thursday, March 1, the Lord willing, with GPA Laos following on March 8. Each national gathering is precious to attendees and strategic to effectively proclaiming the Lord Jesus to large numbers of individuals. Ask God to bring the right 25 pastors to each, to protect all involved, and to connect, unite and strengthen them for His glory.

Friday, March 2, Dr. Richard is scheduled to speak at the Dallas Seminary chapel service. Please pray for God’s hand to be on him. As many have kindly advised, the process of grieving his dad’s passing will take time. Yet, he also hears his dad’s voice in his head and heart citing John 9:4, “Night comes when no man can work.” Pray for wisdom, peace, energy and patience in balancing needs and realities.

Still writing…keep praying

Dear praying friends,

Dr. Richard appreciates your ongoing prayer for his writing time. He hopes to get in some productive hours today and next week, with a break in between for speaking engagements. Please pray that the Lord will block internal and external distractions (which seem to multiply inopportunely!) and grant him insight and progress.

A get-together in the next few days offers Dr. Richard the chance to meet new friends and talk about life. Pray that this will be an extraordinary time of fellowship and open the door to lasting relationships. Pray, too, for his time speaking to missions leaders in a country with escalating challenges yet enormous potential.

The GProCommission team continues to labor industriously. Lift up the GProCentral arm, 11 dedicated colleagues located across eight time zones who speak a cumulative 20 languages. They make about 2,100 calls/emails/messages each month to encourage pastoral trainers in over 68 countries, as well as assist with GProCommission material translation.

For the 2018 Dallas GPA, we’ve now accepted 24 pastors, seven from new countries! We’re waiting to hear the results of two visa interviews and praying over five more coming up for R from St. Kitts and Nevis, D from Niger, E from Angola, L from Lesotho, and M from Burkina Faso.

Thank you for praying with and for us!

Keep praying for proclaiming

Dear praying friends,

2018 has started out like 2017 ended—eventfully. GPA Democratic Republic of Congo (East) began Jan. 4 in Goma with 30 eager pastors. They wrap up this weekend.

Pray that these young GPA DR Congo pastors will return home better equipped and connected with fellow pastors for the demands of ministry in their country of much turmoil but amazing potential. Pray, too, for the teams preparing to hold national GPAs in many other countries this year.

Turmoil characterizes much of our world today and is something Dr. Richard sees close-up in his global proclamation travels. This week, during an intimate dinner with a small group of RREACH friends, he shared a biblically grounded perspective and strategy for understanding and living in these complex and uncertain times. If you’d like to read some of what he has written on this topic, browse the articles on the RREACH website:

The Lord willing, Ramesh plans to fly out next week to minister in two areas of the world difficult for followers of the Lord Jesus. Please ask God’s great favor on this trip—that He will use Dr. Richard to greatly encourage believers and winsomely connect with pre-Christians, some who may never have heard anything of the Gospel.

We continue to pray for the right 25 pastors, at least five from new countries, for the 2018 Dallas GPA. Being approved for a visa to travel to the U.S. is a huge challenge for many of them. Four pastors will be applying for their visas over the next couple of weeks. Please intercede for them.

Finally, continue to lift up our efforts to re-center around RREACH’s core purpose of fully exploiting—in the good way—Dr. Richard’s gifting and calling to proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ, for the very best of many everywhere. Thank you!

A wonderful surprise

Dear praying friends,

RREACH just received a wonderful surprise: the independent charity evaluator Charity Navigator has updated our rating to 100! Less than one percent of all the charities evaluated by Charity Navigator have received perfect scores. We are humbly grateful.

Please continue to pray that we will do our best in every way to steward what God has entrusted to us, especially as the RREACH board of directors plans to meet late next week. Also remember the executive team meetings set to take place, the Lord willing, in a couple of weeks.

In the area of Media Outreach, Dr. Richard’s latest video campaign on grief is doing well. Pray for many to hear his talks, engage with us through, and ultimately trust the Lord Jesus Christ for their lives.

Work toward the 2018 Dallas GPA continues on schedule. We have filled every Master Coach slot and have accepted 17 pastors, four from new countries. We’re also working toward holding at least 25 national GPAs next year. Please ask God’s direction and favor.

Thank you!

A few things we’re thankful for

Dear praying friends,

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving season in the U.S., here are just a few things for which RREACH thanks God:

  • During a recent trip to New York State to visit his dad, Ramesh had an impromptu, informal opportunity to share with 32 foreign service officials of a strategic country, some of whom had never before heard of the Lord Jesus
  • That unexpected opening to talk about the Lord Jesus arose at a point when Ramesh was fatigued from fighting a couple of concurrent illnesses; God answered his cry and gave him supernatural strength for the moment
  • The first women’s national GPA concluded successfully; attendees included 20 from the Philippines, the host country, and eight from South Africa, China, Tobago, India, Panama and Argentina
  • The GProCommission team is nearing the launch of a special online learning platform featuring more than 4,300 (and increasing) pastoral training curricular resources they have curated from around the world and in various languages
  • We have accepted 15 outstanding young pastors to the 2018 Dallas GPA; they are proceeding to obtain visas and raise their portion of the airfare
  • The blessing of you who care, pray and encourage.

We so need God’s sustenance through health and through sickness, through progress and through challenges. Thank you for lifting Dr. Ramesh Richard, the RREACH team, and this ministry before Him.
